David Thomas

David Thomas is a nationally recognized thought leader in education. With over 25 years’ experience as a teacher, leader, and policymaker. Equity and access to high-quality education afforded to all is the hallmark of David’s career. Throughout his career, David has brought vision, innovation, political savvy, strategic thinking, and transformative leadership to each endeavor. He can bring talented people together to form leadership teams within organizations and build collaborative coalitions among various stakeholders. David began his career as a college instructor and has held several leadership positions in higher education.

David served as a local school board commissioner; in addition to serving as a local school board commissioner, he Co-Chaired the Alabama Governor’s Commission on Education Reform. He also served as National Chair of the National School Boards Association, Council of Urban Boards of Education. Before joining Rethink, David served as Vice President of Business Development at Frontline/Accelify, a leading SAAS company providing best in class Special Education management solutions.

Prior to joining Frontline/Accelify, David served as the Executive Vice President of Grade Results, Inc., a leading online course and content provider for virtual and blended learning models. David received his undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama, Masters degree from the University of South Alabama, and he is a Doctoral Candidate at Alverno College. He is married and the father of two children and two stepchildren.
