RethinkEd Completes Its MTSS Platform with Academic Progress Monitoring and Behavior Intervention Tools

Published: June 3, 2026

Every day, we talk with leaders at districts across the country, from small rural communities to large urban systems. The conversations are different—different contexts, different student populations, different resource levels—but one theme comes up consistently: fragmentation. Behavior data lives in one system. Academic tracking happens in spreadsheets. SEL and mental health supports run on separate platforms. And nobody can see how it all connects to help the students who need it most.

We listened. And over the first half of 2026, we delivered a wave of product enhancements that address these exact challenges. These updates represent the completion of our MTSS platform, new behavior intervention tools, and significant improvements to data visibility across the system.

Academic Progress Monitoring Completes the MTSS Platform

RethinkEd MTSS now brings academic, behavioral, and social-emotional goal tracking together in one connected system, helping teams see a more complete picture of student progress.

The new academic progress monitoring includes:

  • Comprehensive goal libraries for ELA, math, behavior, wellness and skills
  • Evidence-based interventions connected directly to each goal
  • Progress tracking that rolls up from individual students to district dashboards
  • Dynamic tier placement that supports data-driven escalation and de-escalation decisions

“Districts now have one platform where academic, behavioral and social-emotional supports work together rather than compete for attention,” said Rachel Schiff, RethinkFirst’s chief product officer. “This is MTSS as it’s meant to work—consistent, evidence-based and visible from the classroom to district leadership.”

New Behavior Tools That Build Relationships and Track Progress

We also released two evidence-based behavior intervention tools:

  • Check-In/Check-Out (CICO): A structured system where educators monitor 1-3 targeted behaviors throughout the day while building student-adult relationships. The tool includes customizable scoring, flexible time periods and optional student self-scoring to promote ownership. Progress data visualizes whether students are on track toward mastery or need adjusted support.
  • Self-Monitoring for Behavior Goals: Now available within Goals & Analytics, this tool allows students to track their own behavior progress through the Student Center while educators monitor phase changes and record data. It’s designed to build student agency while giving educators the documentation they need.

Both tools integrate with RethinkEd’s existing behavior tracking and intervention library, creating a complete Tier 2 and Tier 3 support system.

District-Level Visibility Designed for Faster Decision-Making

The MTSS District Level Dashboard received major performance and usability enhancements, including:

  • Faster dashboard and report loading for quicker access to insights
  • Intuitive bar graphs that simplify data comparison
  • Drill-through capabilities from district overviews down to individual student lists
  • Cleaner labeling and more actionable data displays

Administrators and support teams can now view MTSS effectiveness in real time across ELA, math, behavior, SEL and attendance, helping schools identify trends and respond with more informed student support decisions.

Vizzle Adds Benchmark Assessments and Usage Insights

Vizzle now includes Benchmark Assessments—periodic evaluations across ELA, math, science and social studies administered three times per year. These assessments help educators monitor progress toward standards mastery and identify learning gaps earlier.

The new Vizzle Usage Report in the Admin Dashboard gives district leaders visibility into curriculum adoption and engagement across schools, educators, and subject areas.

Expanded Analytics and Reporting

Teams now have more flexible ways to monitor progress, organize reporting, and view student data across programs and support areas, including:

  • Goal Progress Reports track behavior goals alongside academic and skills goals
  • Custom Graph Reports with dropdown menus and enhanced organization
  • New Skills Tracking Reports for Abilities, Inclusion, Transition and Foundational Academics
  • Progress Reports that allow printing multiple programs with dynamic filtering

Practical Workflow Improvements

Whole Group Instruction now automatically tracks attendance and awards completion credit when educators present lessons to groups, eliminating manual documentation.

The Lesson Library search now supports exact and partial phrase matching, so educators spend less time hunting for the right lesson and more time teaching.

What This Means for Your District

“These updates represent a multi-year commitment to building a platform that addresses what districts actually need to support every student,” said Dinesh Senanayake, CEO of RethinkFirst. “We’ve completed our MTSS solution with academic progress monitoring for ELA and math, giving districts the first truly unified system for Whole Child support.”

Every update released this spring connects to that vision: a complete system where academic needs are addressed alongside behavioral and social-emotional development, where data flows from the classroom to district leadership and where educators spend less time navigating systems and more time supporting students.

This is the RethinkEd platform working as it should—supporting the Whole Child and empowering the Whole Educator to make it happen.
